JULY 2005 - NOVEMBER 2004
NOVEMBER 2004 - JUNE 2004

07.11.2005>>MORE DETAILS ON 7/29 SHOW
Goth rockers "Road Agents" will also be performing at Marlene's Place which will have a $5 cover. Jak goes on at 9pm with special guest guitarist Rory Callais once again as well as a possible drummer. You must be 21 to rock this one.

07.10.2005>>JA(C)K SQUARED ON TCHOUPITOULAS
Catch Jak opening for new friends "I Am Jack Brown" at the new Marlene's Place on Tchoupitoulas on July 29th. More details are coming soon.

07.07.2005>>THE WEATHER HATES JAK AT FG, FINAL ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE
Because of the hurricane breathing down the Gulf's throat, this Friday's outdoor Fair Grinds performance is somewhat on the uncertain side. In less meteorological news, Jak's final Acoustic Night event is July 27th and he'll be performing for the first slot with Rory Callais backing him up once again on the guitar, as well as a drummer possibly.

06.17.2005>>THE FIRST "NO FG" MONTH SINCE LAST JUNE
What happens when you mix outdoor performances with a string of bad weather Fridays?

05.22.2005>>2003 REDUX
Jak along with the 2003 "Bar Assault 'Tour'" backing band (Bryan Brothers, Scott Blanchard, Louis Gardner and Josh St. Amant) will be playing at the Rusty Horse Saloon (formerly the legendary Iron Horse Saloon) on Saturday, July 16 at 10pm.

05.13.2005>>SON OF THE MAILING LIST
The mailing list is back--join it here.

05.10.2005>>GREEN BEAN MKIII
Thursday, June 16 Jak will be playing again at the Green Bean in Houma at 8:30pm.

05.09.2005>>NEW DEMO!
Come to a show and get Jak's new 6 song demo, Play Anyway! Alt rock marinated in antifolk, limited pressing.

05.05.2005>>JAK'S LUCKY DOZEN AT CHECKPOINT CHARLIE
Checkpoint Charlie wants Jak back for the twelfth time on Saturday, June 4 from 9pm to 10:30pm. You're welcome to come too, of course.

04.21.2005>>JAK FEATURED IN LION'S ROAR
What's that? You don't have access to SELU's newspaper, The Lion's Roar? In that case, you'll find the article that ran this week on Jak on the PRESS page of this site.

04.18.2005>>NEUTRAL GROUND QUICK SPOT
Jak's been invited to play three songs as an opener for Renard Jenkins' concert at the Neutral Ground on June 3rd, with Jordan on the drums. More details to come on the Live page.

04.15.2005>>(ONCE AGAIN NOT) ROCKIN AT CHECKPOINT'S
Disaster struck and keyboardist Ben's out of commission for tonight and probably for a little while. Unless another change happens in the next five hours, tonight's show is, once again, Jak with guitarist Rory Callais.

04.08.2005>>ANOTHER "ONE FG MONTH"
One is still better than none. Next week's Fair Grinds show has been cancelled. These things happen periodically.

04.07.2005>>ROCKIN (AGAIN) AT KEYSTONE'S
Thanks to neophyte event organizer Eric Dauzat, Jak Locke and Tom Violence will be playing rock shows at Keystone's on Saturday, April 23rd. As details become finalized you'll see them in the center column and on the LIVE page. Backing up Jak for this show will be bassist Charles Walden and drummer Mike Routt with Ben Farrier (tentatively) on keyboard.

04.03.2005>>MASSIVE UPDATE: (ALMOST) ROCKIN AT CHECKPOINT'S ET AL, (ABSOLUTELY) ROCKIN AT KEYSTONE'S
"2003-2004 Bar Assault 'Tour'" backing band alum "Fishhook" Ben Farrier will be tickling the electric ivories at the ever-changing April 15 Checkpoint Charlie show, back with Jak for the first time since last March. Ben will also be playing with Jak on May 5th at Checkpoint's and (tentatively) April 22nd in Hammond at the Green Bean. ALSO, Jak's "Acoustic Night" at Keystone's had the 9pm slot on April 13th open up unexpectedly so he slotted himself in there...with a twist. Five-piece local rock'n'roll group Tsunami will be backing up Jak before playing their own set at 10pm.

03.31.2005>>WHO KNEW?
Jak's the "Featured Artist" for April over at neworleansbands.net! In the spirit of the upcoming video, "Molotov Cocktail (Junkyard)" is being hosted on Jak's artist page on the site. You may have to do some right-click magic to get the song in your grubby virtual hands, so keep that in mind if you run into any problems listening to it. Click here to get to it.

03.29.2005>>MOLOTOV COCKTAIL VIDEO
Jak and New Orleans filmmaker Jon Conkle are working on ideas for a video of "Molotov Cocktail (Junkyard)" from Jak's Junk Worship album. More details when more gets done.

03.22.2005>>(NOT) ROCKIN AT CHECKPOINT'S
Despite what the heading may lead you to conclude, no, it's not a cancellation! (For once.) April 15 at Checkpoint Charlie has merely been switched from a rock show to an acoustic show with the departure of Jak's former backing band to pursue their own musical ventures. Catch local jazz/folk rock musician Rory Callais backing Jak up on guitar at the only bar / grill / club / venue / laundromat in the city.

03.20.2005>>JAK IN HAMMOND AGAIN
Missed the last Green Bean show? Hammond's next monthly shot of Jak is on Friday, April 22 at 9pm. See you there.

03.18.2005>>ONE FG SHOW THIS MONTH?
Tonight's show at the Fair Grinds has been unfortunately cancelled. They'll still be open though.

03.11.2005>>JAK IN HAMMOND
Catch Jak's inaugural show at the Green Bean Coffee Bar on Saturday, March 19 at 9pm! Struggling SELU students need not worry as the show is FREE--spoiled SELU students can show off their opulence by tipping, of course.

03.01.2005>>ROCKIN AT CHECKPOINT'S
After you're done with your taxes, catch Jak's rock show at Checkpoint Charlie on Friday, April 15, then catch him solo there again on Thursday, May 5! Both at 10pm.

02.18.2005>>NEW MERCHANDIE DESIGN
Check out the SWAG page to see the new "War" design available from Cafepress.com!

02.17.2005>>THREE FG SHOWS THIS MONTH?
In addition to the usual two monthly shows Jak plays at the Fair Grinds, he'll be playing at 7pm on February 25th now too.

02.15.2005>>AUDIO!
Certain dates of past shows on the LIVE page now have short audio clips ripped from old recordings of the corresponding date's performances! Some of the clips have terrible quality thanks to the older-than-you technology used to record them--that shouldn't stop you from listening to them though.

02.04.2005>>ACOUSTIC NIGHT MOVED
Acoustic Night has switched venues from Hammerhead's to Keystone's just a few miles away in Metairie. Everything else is the same.

01.28.2005>>VIDEO!
Check out forty seconds worth of video from the Checkpoint's show on January 2, 2004. In sadder news, February 19th's show at, well, Checkpoint's has been cancelled and will probably be rescheduled soon. In the meantime, check out the new Acoustic Night website.

01.18.2005>>ACOUSTIC NIGHT AT HAMMERHEAD'S
With January 26 as the inaugural date, Jak will be hosting Hammerhead's brand new acoustic night every Wednesday night from 7pm - 11pm. The first few weeks will be set up in an open microphone night sort of motif, so if you play acoustic music and would be interested in landing an hour spot at one of the upcoming acoustic nights, stop by Hammerhead's on the 26th with your guitar and any acoustic accompaniment you prefer to have backing you up.

01.17.2005>>JAK MP3 ON INSERTCREDIT.COM
Jak's metal rendition of the Kefka theme from FFVI is featured at the bottom of the FFDOG IV video feature page on insertcredit.com. Check it out!

01.16.2005>>NOLABANDS.COM
Click here to get to Jak's brand new digs on nolabands.com's servers (NOTE: no longer up). There are three MP3's up at the moment, "The Nothing At All" and "Cellophane Atmosphere" from the Brother Sisyphus album and the "Chemical Soul" performance from the Rotolo's show on May 29th last year. Go! Listen! Listen many times! I'll let you know when the MP3s cycle from here. Oh, and though it's a bit late to announce now, January 14's show at the Fair Grinds was cancelled due to frigid weather.

01.13.2005>>HAMMERHEAD'S SHOWS
Jak and the gang as well as Houma punk act A Waste Of Electricity will be filling Hammerhead's with their own brand of noise on March 4. There's also an acoustic night deal in the works with Hammerhead's with February 16 as a tentative inaugural date, so stay tuned for more details on that in the next few days.

01.04.2005>>CHECKPOINTS SHOW
Jak will be playing his tenth Checkpoint Charlie show on February 19th with his band at half past midnight. You know you can make it. Oh yeah, happy new year.

12.28.2004>>DOMAIN
You can now get to this site from www.jaklocke.com. And it's about time too!

12.15.2004>>CANCELLATION
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the combo Jak was to play bass/guitar/vocals for, "The Starlights", will not be playing Mardi Gras 2005.

12.08.2004>>MORE SHOWS
This Friday's show at HHS was cancelled and has been tentatively rescheduled for next Tuesday. Don't get too disappointed, Jak and the gang will be playing two more shows with QuiVeR and co. on December 17 at The Foundry and January 8 at Hammerhead's! Details where they usually are.

12.04.2004>>GRAB A PEN
This coming Friday, December 10, Jak will be playing live with backing musicians Brad Medina and Scott Blanchard again for the first time since June at Hahnville High from roughly 11am until 1pm! Don't forget to catch his regular twice-a-month solo set at the Fair Grinds five hours following. On December 29, Jak will be playing fully backed once again at the Celebration In The Oaks in New Orleans City Park with local rock group QuiVer and comedian Jodi Borrello MCing! Also, watch for Jak in six parades during Mardi Gras next year as he provides bass, guitar, vocals and a few of his songs to the rock 'n' roll band "The Starlights". More details are coming soon!

11.16.2004>>OCT 5, 2001 INTERVIEW TRANSCRIBED
Read the transcript of Jak's KNSU interview from October 5, 2001 on the PRESS page. It's been transcribed and it only took a little over three years. MP3 clips of highlights from the interviews will be coming shortly as well.

11.15.2004>>SITE WORK
Version THIRTEEN of this site is in progress as you may have noticed. Most of the graphical overhaul is finished already. Layouts are still being changed around to make this thing easier to use.
